State Level Agencies and Laws Protecting Consumers against Robocalls, Telemarketers, and Debt Collection Calls in New Jersey:
- New Jersey Do Not Call List: New Jersey residents can add their phone numbers to the Do Not Call List to reduce unsolicited telemarketing calls. To register, visit https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/donotcall or call 1-888-382-1222.
- New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act: The New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq.) prohibits deceptive practices and false advertising by businesses, including those involved in telemarketing scams.
- New Jersey Fair Debt Collection Practices Act: The New Jersey Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (N.J.S.A. 45:18-1 et seq.) regulates debt collection practices within the state and provides consumer protections against abusive debt collection calls.
